So we hear a lot about calorie controlled diets, people for them, people against them. They can be simple or as complicated as someone can make them.
Lets break it down to simple, below is the energy balance equation:
That's the easy way, keep your calories in (energy intake) less than your calorie out (energy expenditure) you will lose weight, reverse that and you'll gain weight, make them balance you'll maintain your weight. There are other factors to consider when gaining and losing weight, dependent on your overall goal and I'll give some insight to that in a future post.
